Today, April 4, marks the passing of a great mentor and friend of mine from school. She took over my classes when I ended up in the hospital halfway through my pregnancy because Macie was having a tough time. Three + years later, Karen actually was on the same Cardiology floor of the UW hospital as I had been. She taught for 44 years and touched so many people, including me as one of her many mentees, our mutual students, and Macie and Caroline. Her amazing spirit and love and advocacy for all kids are what I will remember most about her. Here are the girls drawing pictures that I brought to Karen last Thursday.
