I heard a great term the other day from a fellow twin mother. She said that she takes her kids to the park and they often "split the momma" - ie, they run in opposite directions! Another friend (with 7 yea old twins now!) said that she once had to knock one girl down to go running after the other one!!!! We're not there yet, but this video of the girls playing outside is a little bit like our forays to the park - Caroline is fearless and will run off without looking back, often in search of someone else's ball or snack. Macie is still unsure on her feet, but she likes to hide (often under slides!) and crawl over to talk to people or dogs we don't know. I feel like a bobble-head trying to keep track of both of them, but it is fun to watch them get so much more confident on the play structures and with older kids.
The girls had their 15month check-up yesterday with Dr. Tom and both are continuing on their growth curves beautifully (Dr's words, not mine)! Caroline's smack in the middle of the height and weight percentiles (22lb 8oz and 30in long) and her head's 75th. Macie is chugging right along in her 10th percentile for height and weight (20lbs 5oz and 28.5in long), but her head is amazingly still in the 90th percentile!!!! Macie just got all four of her molars and Caroline has two - neither of them seem too bothered by their new giant teeth. They're still napping twice a day and sleeping pretty well at night, but we have noticed that they have a harder time falling asleep somewhere other than home in their pack-n-plays.
I feel like the biggest change in the last couple of months is how much the girls understand. They know what they are allowed to do and what they are not allowed to do (ie turn the knobs on the stove or eat dirt). We are in the very beginning stages of disciplining them and have given a few time-outs in their cribs, which they totally understand! It's so amazing to watch those little minds work - often mischieviously!!!! They also have started to follow directions - like, "Caroline, can you bring me Macie's shoes?" which saves me from getting up again! Ahhh, I'm going to get so lazy.... They are really happy kids for the most part and are so interested in people, garbage trucks, dogs, water, pinecones, hats, monkeys - you name it! So much fun :)!!!!
